Sclerotherapy is also known as obliteration. It involves the injection of a special preparation into the affected veins. The drug causes inflammation inside the vessel. The procedure is performed using ultrasound, a phlebology illuminator or a vascular magnifier. This guarantees the high precision of the procedure. The result of the procedure is the gradual fibrosis and closure of the varicose veins. After some time, they disappear almost completely with larger and longer-lasting varicose veins or completely with small lesions. Thanks to the use of very fine needles, the procedure is not painful. Anaesthesia is not usually required. It is only used locally and with catheter-based sclerotherapy of deep vessels. The session lasts approximately 30 minutes. After the procedure, it is necessary to wear grade II compression stockings.
